Sellout Music session drummer Dylan and I had the good fortune of playing a Southern Foodways Alliance festival in Alabama a few weeks back. For the uninitiated, the SFA is part of the Center for the Study of Southern Culture at Ole Miss.
Anyway, as soon as we played our gig (it was early) we made haste to track down John T. Edge, the boss of the SFA and expert in all things southern food. After a couple Bloody Marys, we convinced him to take us to lunch. It was good.
He then kindly gave us a couple of documentary shorts the SFA has produced recently. The following is an excerpt from our favorite, HOT CHICKEN:
